Today I'm launching Traction, an interview series with successful entrepreneurs that demystifies how startup companies get traction for their businesses. Getting traction is the process of acquiring users and customers, and more generally significantly growing businesses. I chose this subject because it is the area I see entrepreneurs struggle with most.In this inaugural interview, Steve Barsh tells us about two of his ventures: SECA, a bootstrapped software consulting turned product company he started out of college and later sold to MCI, and iGrandparents.com, a Web 1.0 VC-backed company he took from an idea on paper to capturing 1.5% of the baby-boomer market.
Steve shares some of his tips, tricks and traps including how he "leans forward" into his markets, how he effectively uses PR and how getting traction relates to positioning. Steve is currently a partner at Dreamit Ventures, a pre-seed investment firm in Philadelphia. This video is about 30 minutes long.
